PRAY FOR WIND IN NEW ENGLAND 🙏
PRAY FOR WIND IN NEW ENGLAND
This month, New England states will announce the results of the first multistate procurement of offshore wind in the United States.
Grab a pencil and a notebook because you are about to witness a masterclass in how to waste taxpayer money delivering expensive electricity to consumers.
Developers Orsted, Avangrid, and Engie bid to secure up to 8.5 GW of new offshore wind capacity in Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island. The multistate procurement will streamline the process for offshore wind investors and should lead to “cost reductions from proposed projects" due to economies of scale, Katie Scharf Dykes, the Commissioner of Connecticut's Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP), told Reuters Events.
God, grant me the confidence to have the highest electricity costs of any region in the US (Maine, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Mass are all in top 10 most expensive)... while being located next to one of the largest energy sources (Marcellus) in the entire world…. And give a straight face quote talking about “cost reductions” from offshore wind projects.
The six New England states applied for federal funding for new transmission through the U.S. Department of Energy’s Grid Innovation Program (GIP). Under the “Power Up New England" plan, the states want to build new and upgraded transmission points of interconnection in Southeast Massachusetts and Southeast Connecticut and install battery storage systems to optimize delivery.
The same part of the country that would rather burn heating oil imported by cargo ships than build a pipeline to burn nat gas because it’s “greener” now wants the government to build transmission lines and battery infrastructure for their wind farms.

In case you missed it, super bullish report predicting $6/mcf through 2030!
Also, this will not happen and the authors of the report should find a new profession.
